VVD MP Thierry Aartsen goes through the dust because he insulted the viewers of SBS 6 during the broadcast of the new talk show Marcel & Gijs. “This was awkward.”
Thierry Aartsen joined the first episode of Marcel & Gijs last night, but the VVD MP overdid himself when Marcel van Roosmalen asked to explain something in detail. “Then we will make it very technical. I don’t know if that is suitable for the SBS audience,” he replied.
‘Not intended’
It led to ‘oh’ shouts in the studio, because disqualifying the SBS 6 viewer is not very useful as a politician. That’s why he’s going through the dust now Twitter: “As a regular SBS 6 viewer, I would of course never want to offend my fellow viewers. This was a clumsy statement from me at Marcel & Gijs that I didn’t mean that way.”
It arouses suspicion among his followers. “Awkward? And what shows that you didn’t mean it that way? Didn’t the statement come spontaneously from your insides?” says one Anke. And Sint: “A package with twenty, thirty measures and you couldn’t name a single one. That’s not a clumsy joke, that’s ducking.”
Tina critical
Tina Nijkamp, former channel boss of SBS 6, does not like this from Thierry. She wrote on her last night analysis channel that she did not like ‘that the SBS 6 viewer was discussed with disdain a few times’. “Especially Thierry Aartsen’s remark (‘isn’t this too complicated for the SBS 6 viewer?’) made no sense.”
And Angela de Jong? He is amazed at it AD especially about Thierry’s new haircut. Or, well, the lack thereof. “I had to look for photos on the internet to find out when the MP had given up fighting his receding hairline and picked up the razor.”
