VVD does not exclude cooperation with BBB: ‘It’s about making agreements’

The Brabant VVD does not rule out cooperation with the BBB, despite past experiences with new parties that are elected with many seats in a short period of time. That is what VVD party leader Martijn van Gruijthuijsen says.

In the exit poll, the VVD has nine seats, a loss of one seat compared to the previous elections. “There is still a margin. We will look at it tomorrow morning,” says Gruijthuijsen.

‘Great responsibility at BBB’
The exit poll does show that the VVD will no longer be the largest party, but that BBB will have twelve seats in the States. “They have a great responsibility to get Brabant open as soon as possible. We are happy to cooperate with that”

When asked if he is confident that the BBB will take the lead, Gruijthuijsen says: “You never know if things are going well when you start a conversation. But I assume that they too really have the interests of Brabant entrepreneurs in mind, to get Brabant open as quickly as possible.”

‘It’s human work’
After the previous elections, newcomer Forum for Democracy joined the council, which later collapsed. Gruijthuijsen is confident that the BBB is doing better. “Ultimately it is people’s work. Last time we had a very experienced board member who also put an end to the coalition.”

“It doesn’t mean much to me whether you’re new or experienced. It’s human work. Then it’s about being able to make agreements in the interest of Brabant and that those agreements are fulfilled,” says Gruijthuijsen.
