VV Dongen long close to stunt against VVV-Venlo, Blue Yellow will win

VV Dongen seemed to perform the impossible on Thursday evening. The team has not yet won in the third division this season, but against VVV-Venlo the win was up for grabs. The amateurs led 1-0 for a long time. In the end, the professional football club won this match in the first round of the TOTO KNVB Cup tournament with 1-2.

Thom Avontuur seemed to be the hero of the evening for over an hour. He broke the spell for the home club in the 12th minute. This score remained on the scoreboard until the 74th minute. Then Thijme Verheijen made 1-1. In the last minute of regular time, Sven Braken decided the game in favor of the pros.

Blauw Geel ’38 made it to the next round. Just like VV Dongen, the Veghel team plays in the third division. In Beverwijk she was 1-4 too strong for the amateurs of DEM. Not so illogical, because in the competition Blauw Geel had already won five times in a row.

Blauw Geel and Kozak Boys from Werkendam are the only amateur clubs from Brabant that have reached the second round of the cup tournament. The draw for this will be made on Saturday evening. The tubes also contain the top of the Eredivisie and the clubs that have qualified for the next selection in recent days, such as FC Den Bosch, FC Eindhoven and NAC Breda.
