The new Eredivisie season for the women is about to start. Tonight, two of three North Holland teams will start, including VV Alkmaar. The team of trainer Mark de Vries has had a policy aimed at the promotion of young players for years.
VV Alkmaar saw no fewer than twelve players leave this summer. Despite the many changes, twenty-year-old defender Judith Roosjen is confidently looking forward to the new season. “We have quite a lot of new girls in the team. Also this year we are really a training team and we have to do it with mostly young players.”
The Alkmaar defender thinks that the selection needs time to adapt the playing style to everyone. Still, she has a lot of confidence in the newcomers and wants to improve on last season’s performance.

Experienced players are missing
VV Alkmaar has been known for years as the youngest team in the Eredivisie. “That young selection can just work in our favor. It is of course nice to fall back on the qualities of experienced players every now and then, but this young team really has a lot of energy. Everyone wants to prove themselves and ultimately take a step towards a make a bigger club. That motivation and fighting spirit can actually work in our favor.”
