Vuelta, seventh surprise stage in Soupe. Martinez remains the leader

Chaotic sprint in Oliva after several crashes, Ganna ninth. Saturday ascent again to Xorret de Catì

Geoffrey Soupe won stage seven of the Vuelta, 201km and finish in Oliva, in the Valencian Community. The 35-year-old Frenchman from TotalEnergies beat Venezuelan Aular from Caja Rural and Theuns from Lidl-Trek. Then Molano and Groves while the best of the Italians was Filippo Ganna, 11th. Several falls, the most damaged seemed to be the Dutchman from Ineos Arensman, who was taken away in an ambulance. No significant changes in the general classification and therefore Lenny Martinez, the 20-year-old Frenchman from Groupama, remained in the red jersey. Jonas Vingegaard gained 2” at an intermediate finish. Saturday eighth stage and still climbing: Dénia-Xorret de Catì, 165 kilometres. The Vuelta will end on Sunday 17 September in Madrid.
