There was a failure in the authorization systems of VTB Bank, due to which the funds of the users of the Moscow Metro application were incorrectly debited, reported on the website of the credit institution.
“On the morning of January 12, 2022, when carrying out scheduled work in the authorization systems of VTB Bank, some users of the Moscow Metro application had incorrect write-offs,” the bank said.
Residents of Novokuznetsk complained about the cancellation of tickets up to 20 million rubles.
VTB promised to return all debited funds by 20:00 on January 12, as well as hand over small souvenirs to users affected by the failure.
The press services of the Department of Transport and the Moscow Metro declined to comment for RBC.
