The long-awaited draft law should simplify and accelerate compensation for victims of future terrorist attacks on Belgian territory. The government could release 1.7 billion euros per year for this.
With its initiative, the opposition wants to get through a provision for people suffering from post-traumatic stress after an attack – something that victim organizations are pushing for after the attacks of March 22, 2016.
The amendment aims to prevent data subjects from being subject to a limitation period, which would prevent them from asserting their rights.
