Are you also a fan of bitterballen and frikandels from the frying fat? Then the Party for the Deep Fry is your party. With the local elections on the horizon, the party is standing up for the deep-frying culture. “It’s not that bad at all,” said party leader Nick van Waaijenburg.
If it is up to Waaijenburg, the chip shop will be taken out of hiding. “If you’re living a healthy lifestyle, it doesn’t matter at all if you grab some good deep-fried chips once or twice a week,” he explains. In addition to being the party leader, Nick is also the owner of Eethuis Reintje in Mierlo.
He doesn’t like the rise of the air fryer. “Airfryers out of the country and very quickly!” he says firmly. That is the main point of the party. According to Nick, they are not intended for frying chips and snacks at all. “But potatoes or vegetables. A kind of small oven on your kitchen worktop.”
The party leader has already criticized the air fryer before. A few months ago, the Dutch Airfryer Throwing Championships were organized on the sidewalk in front of the snack bar. “I wanted to come up with something to get rid of those things,” he explained to the match at the time. With his brand new party, he is now making a new attempt to achieve that.
His own favorite snack is the classic frikandel, but the batch also encourages creativity. The discodel, the crocodile, or the spring roll, they can all be there. “We like to try all the new variants.” Snack bar Reintje also has a specialty: the cherry croquette.
Producer Jeroen of morning show WAKKER! on Omroep Brabant radio made an application as a campaign manager in the broadcast on Wednesday morning. He suggested the slogans ‘Saved society, a croquette for everyone’ and ‘A new administrative culture, a snack bar for everyone’.
