Marianne Vos closed the Tour of Scandinavia in style on Sunday by winning the sixth and final stage, her fourth victory this week. The Danish Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig secured the overall victory.
Anouska Koster seemed to surprise with a late attack after a flat ride from Lillestrøm to Halden over 153.4 kilometers. Within sight of the finish, the rider of Jumbo-Visma was still overtaken by Vos, among others, who crossed the line first for the fourth time this week.
Despite her late attack, Koster had to settle for ninth place. Besides Vos, the podium was completed by the Belgian Shari Bossuyt (second) and the Italian Barbara Guarischi (third). Lucinda Brand was fifth, ahead of Nina Kessler.
Vos also won the first three stages of the Tour of Scandinavia, leading the general classification for several days. The Brabant rider lost her leader’s jersey to Ludwig in the fifth stage on Saturday, after she had to unload on the final climb of the one and only mountain stage.
The 26-year-old Ludwig won the fifth stage and defended a 17-second lead on close attacker Liane Lippert from Germany in the final stage. That margin was not in jeopardy. Ludwig became Danish road champion earlier this year and she won a stage in the Tour de France Femmes in July.
