BRUSSELS (dpa-AFX) – EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen promised Ukraine support for reconstruction on Independence Day. “Together we will rebuild the cities stone by stone and replant the gardens and fields seed by seed,” she said in a message on Wednesday. Europe stands by Ukraine today and in the long term.
At the same time, von der Leyen pointed out that the EU had already done a lot for the country attacked by Russia and its citizens in the past few months. “Our schools have opened their doors to more than three million Ukrainian children to continue learning and studying,” she said. There is also support for soldiers at the front, government officials and civil society.
