Volunteer rescued by Pieten is doing well, although still in hospital

The volunteer of the West Zaan Sinterklaas arrival who became unwell during the arrival yesterday, ended up in the ditch and had to be rescued by two Piets, is doing well under the circumstances. The organization let us know. The man is still in hospital.

The volunteer stood at the side of the road during the arrival to ensure the event ran smoothly. During this entry the man became unwell and fell into the ditch. Two bystanders, who dressed as Piet, intervened and pulled the man out of the water.

Man resuscitated

The man was resuscitated on the sidelines and taken to hospital by ambulance. Both the police and fire brigade responded to the medical report. An air ambulance was also deployed.
