Volleyball World Cup: Germany “on the sofa” in the round of 16

Status: 08/31/2022 10:43 p.m

The German volleyball players have reached the round of 16 at the World Cup – the results of other teams helped the team without their own effort.

The team of national coach Michal Winiarski benefited from the games of the competition on Wednesday (08/31/2022) and was still one of the four best third-placed players in the knockout round. As 15th in a combined table after the group phase, the Germans now meet Vice European Champion Slovenia, as they did at the end of the group.

Winiarski’s side finished third in Group D with just one win after losing to the World Cup co-hosts in Ljubljana on Tuesday night and had to rely on help from other groups on Wednesday. Only the first two teams in each of the four groups and the four best third-placed teams advanced to the round of 16.
