Volleyball, women’s A-1, Scandicci stretches Rome and focuses on the Cup final

Barbolini’s Tuscans keep the 2 Brazilians in the stands, they suffer a double injury, but in the end they win 3-1

Scandicci 3-1 Rome (25-19, 23-25, 25-22, 25-18) Scandicci complicates his life on the road leading to the Challenge Cup finals (Wednesday night in the double match with Tenerife) against a Roma hungry for points for salvation. In the end the Tuscans bring home the result, but with too many worries. In the first set Scandicci, which leaves the two Brazilians in the stands (disciplinary measure for accumulated delays) and Antropova on the bench (technical choice), Savino del Bene has control of the game, with Rome in trouble. But from the second set the music changes: the capitoline players raise their heads and put in an important break. When Scandicci tries to activate the comeback, a rather tough clash between Castillo and Malinov sends both players to the bench (very sore) who are replaced by Merlo and Camera. The Tuscans are getting closer to the Roman ones, but that’s not enough.

Third set

In the third set Barbolini still has to put his hand to the team and sends Antropova (who also played hammer in the second set) on the field in place of Lippmann and confirms Merlo and Camera instead. Rome still takes a break ahead of 11-14, but this is the last blaze of Acqua & Sapone. From there until the end only Savino del Bene commands, which even a very different formation from the starting one (Angeloni also on the field for Sorokaite) wins the three points.
