The volleyball players of Peelpush are no longer in the race for the national title. After the 3-1 home defeat, the women from Meijel also lost the second match in the quarterfinals against Apollo 8.

The second set was of great importance to the volleyball players from Meijel. Losing would mean elimination in the battle for the national title. Peelpush started energetically and opened a 10-run gap (6-16). Apollo narrowed the difference to 18-23, but that couldn’t stop the women from Meijel from winning the set: 18-25.

Ease
Peelpush also played well in the third set. The team led 5-8, but Apollo 8 fought back, led 17-15 and won the set 25-20. With the loss of this set, nothing was at stake for Peelpush and Apollo 8 seemed to easily decide the match in four sets.

Yet Peelpush continued to fight to at least win the game in Borne. Peelpush trailed 7-3, narrowing the deficit to 10-8, then the home team widened again to 21-12. The end of the game seemed close, but Peelpush closed the gap, won the set 24-26 and forced a decisive fifth set.

Fifth set
