The game between the volleyball players of Draisma Dynamo Apeldoorn and Visser Assen/Sudosa-Desto ended in a disappointing 3-0 loss for the guests. The team failed to seize the opportunities that were there in every set.
Sudosa-Desto was almost the entire match equal to the Apeldoorn home team. Only when it really had to be, the team of Erwin Sikkema and Mark Afman did not give up. ,,We started to play more conservatively during those points, while they went up a gear”, Sikkema summed up the difference between the two teams.
,,It’s great that we are always ahead in the intermediate phase of a set, but that’s not the point.” Sikkema thinks that his team still has to take steps to force luck during the final phase of a set. ,,During those points you have to go for it. Make sure you score with a hand from the block.”
Defeat is now very sour
His colleague Afman is convinced that the team will soon win these kinds of matches. ,,This defeat (28-26, 27-25, 25-23) is now very sour. In the second set we did not reward ourselves above twenty points, while in the third set we come back nicely in the final phase, only to miss it again.”
At Sudosa-Desto, Romee Veenstra made her basic debut in the first set. Afman: ,,She did well, that was nice to see. This gives us more and more options. We have to keep growing as a team. If we do that, next time we’ll win these kinds of matches.
At Sudosa-Desto, Manon Torenbeek was the most scoring attacker with fifteen points (five attacks, two services and five block points). On Wednesday, the Assenaren play at VC Zwolle.
