The Dutch volleyball players also won their second group match at the World Cup without losing a set. The team of national coach Avital Selinger defeated Cameroon, the champion of Africa, in the Arnhem Gelredome 3-0: 25-11 25-20 25-13. Orange had started the tournament, which the Netherlands organizes together with Poland, on Friday with a smooth victory over Kenya (3-0).
With two victories, the volleyball players are almost certain of a place in the second round. The Orange squad will play against Puerto Rico (Wednesday), Belgium (Friday) and Italy (Sunday) next week. The top four countries of the four groups qualify for the second round.
The Dutch volleyball players, who finished fourth at the World Cup in Japan four years ago, hope to at least reach the quarterfinals with a rejuvenated team.
