VfB Friedrichshafen lost 3-1 to the Polish club Jastrzebski Wegiel on the third day of the volleyball champions league, but sold themselves dearly.
After the last nine wins, VfB, who were treated as outsiders, started confidently with a strong block and gained a three-point lead for the first time at 8:5. The guests then equalized to 11:11, but Friedrichshafen continued to play well and finally secured the first set clearly with 25:18.
The second set between Friedrichshafen and Wegiel goes into overtime
The guests from Wegiel started the second set stronger and temporarily took a 11:8 lead. However, Friedrichshafen continued to show a strong performance and made for a highly exciting set final, in which the lead changed several times. In the end, Jastrzebski Wegiel had the better end and won the second round with 33:31.
And the mammoth section had an effect on the Häfler, whose game now lacked some excitement. The Poles, on the other hand, found their rhythm better and better in attack, quickly pulled away to 20:11 and won the third set with 25:14.
Jastrzebski Wegiel also got off to a better start in the fourth round. Unlike in the third set, however, VfB Friedrichshafen fought back into the game, never let up and equalized at 20:20. Ultimately, however, the quality of the guests prevailed, converting the second match ball to 25:22.
