After fourteen years, it seems to be going in the right direction this year for FC Volendam’s promotion opportunities to the Eredivisie. Three supporters will travel to Emmen tonight for the important topper between the number one and two. They really like it: “I have a positive feeling, I really think we are going to win.”
Friends Mark Heilig, Mike Sens and Cor de Vries have been going to every home and away game of their team for years. This year it is going well, FC Volendam is at the top. “It’s convincing, not that old-fashioned panic football,” says Mike. “That should be the deciding factor for the promotion.”
Mark adds: “I think Wim Jonk has already stolen the hearts of the Volendam team over the past three years. If we succeed in becoming champion, it will only become more.”
Champion
The last time Volendam became champion and thus promoted was in 2008. Cor: “I was in the away section, beautiful atmosphere. I still have goosebumps when I see the images.”

But first win ‘a little’ tonight against FC Emmen. If you ask these friends, you’ll be fine. Mike: “My feeling? We will win that one, it should work. They are doing very well. It has to happen this year.” He recovers: “It’s going to happen this year.”
