Robert Muhren stepped in front of the camera with a big smile after winning the match against FC Utrecht. The Volendam striker scored the only goal and personally caused a lot of relief in the fishing village. “Finally Garang Kuol used the depth, passed it well and I was able to slide the ball in.”
With his goal, Muhren is again extremely important for FC Volendam. “That was magical.” It was the third goal for the goal thief this season. Still, he should have scored two today, because Muhren also had a chance in the first half. “Normally this ball goes in eight out of ten times and now it hits the goalkeeper’s big toe.”
Red card
FC Utrecht’s early red card made this job a bit easier for FC Volendam. Yet the surplus situation does not take away the shine from the win, according to trainer Matthias Kohler. “No one will ask about that later.”

“It’s not as easy as everyone thinks,” Muhren says about playing against a team with one man less. “You saw in the first half that we did not play at a high tempo and did not create a surplus.”
“Absolutely not”
Muhren also does not want to know that the victory tastes less sweet due to FC Utrecht’s early red card. “Absolutely not.”
