Technical manager Wim Jonk and his entire staff are leaving FC Volendam. This is due to the decision of the supervisory board (SB) not to continue with the management, as can be read in a press statement. “Our bucket overflowed after the press conference by Supervisory Board chairman Jaap Veerman. After this play full of contradictions, half-truths and full lies, we have no choice but to make this decision.”
The statement starts with the words: “We are going to stop at FC Volendam.” According to the undersigned, including technical manager Wim Jonk and trainer Matthias Kohler, the situation is full.
“Our bucket overflowed after the press conference by Supervisory Board chairman Jaap Veerman. After this play full of contradictions, half-truths and complete lies, we have no choice but to make this decision.” Trainer Kohler will be on the bench for the last time on Saturday during the match against PEC Zwolle.
Eel soap
It completes the soap opera surrounding the Volendam football club. Last week, on November 26, Jan Smit and other board members of FC Volendam received an email from the supervisory board with an announcement of their dismissal. Smit himself announced this via Facebook. The announcement of the dismissal of the Volendam singer caused a ‘tsunami‘ of reactions within the club.
The technical staff also stands behind Smit, as can be read in the press statement. “Jan Smit, a fantastic ambassador who has led the club’s absolute flourishing period, is being dismissed as a ‘bad chairman’.”
‘War situation’
There has been a dormant ‘war situation‘ between the supervisory board and the board of FC Volendam. The supervisory board announced this this afternoon at a press conference. The board, of which Jan Smit is chairman, is said to have already received three formal warnings about the financial situation of the club and the battle between the board and the supervisory board.
During an extraordinary supervisory board meeting yesterday, the dismissal of the entire FC Volendam board was discussed. Jan Smit decided on this not present to be. Smit also suspended the club’s business director, Frans ten Berge. Very striking: on the one hand because of the uncertain position of Smit himself at the club, and on the other hand because Frans was brought in from FC Volendam in February on Smit’s initiative.
Finally, in the press statement, the entire technical staff thanks all players, colleagues, volunteers, sponsors, parents and supporters ‘for the wonderful years and support’.
