Vogts misses leaders in Gladbach

Mönchengladbach (dpa) – Ex-national coach Berti Vogts sees a management problem at his former club Borussia Mönchengladbach.

“What I miss most in the sporting field: real leaders at all levels,” wrote Vogts in his column for the “Rheinische Post” and added: “Max Eberl was one of those people, everyone relied on him. He certainly made mistakes , but in his era Borussia knocked on the door to the Champions League and took part three times, this season we knocked on the door to relegation. That shouldn’t be the club’s claim.”

Despite the unsatisfactory season, Vogts would stick with coach Adi Hütter. “Adi Hütter came with different expectations, but there were also other expectations of him. Many are calling for a change of coach, but I don’t see any real alternative to Hütter. He has a good name, he has proven that he can build good teams. And I think Hütter has the ambition to show that he can be as successful with Borussia Mönchengladbach as he was with Bern and Frankfurt,” said Vogts.
