There’s a catch
As of May 1st, the provider Vodafone will activate three actually encrypted pay-TV channels from the ProSiebenSat.1 portfolio. TECHBOOK knows what they are – and why customers shouldn’t be happy too soon (or better: not too long).
“ProSieben Fun”, “Sat.1 emotions” and “Kabel Eins Classics” – these three previously encrypted pay-TV channels will be activated in the Vodafone media library from May 1st. With this, the operator gives its television customers a small gift; but one with an expiry date.
Vodafone customers get (temporarily) three new channels
Vodafone customers can receive the new channels from ProSiebenSat.1 free of charge for around seven weeks if they use GigaTV, a Horizon box or smart card. During this time, some content should also be available for a full 30 days; a week is normal.

On June 20, the “taster weeks” are over, and the channels that are freely available for a short time will be chargeable again. In the end, Vodafone is probably making itself a gift – should some customers have gotten the taste and subscribe to the pay-TV channels in the future.
Changing entertainment offer at Vodafone
Millions of people in Germany receive their television programs via cable. The absolute majority of them use Vodafone and they should be getting used to changes in the content available. The provider adjusts the channel selection of its cable TV offer quite regularly – so far, so normal. The fact that something is added for free is possibly an offer of reconciliation to the customers: in 2021 the company had only thrown a whole series of SD channels out of the program.
