Vodafone and Lines, sanitary pads against violence against women

TO sometimes important information must above all find the right channel to be conveyed and reach its target. It could be, for many women victims of violencethe QR they will find on the pack of their sanitary pads lines. A package that maybe they have carelessly thrown into the shopping cart, so that they only notice the code once they get home. But that QR code will allow them to download one app full of useful contacts and services. Launched in Italy in 2020 and already used by over 80 thousand people in Italy, the app Bright Sky by the Vodafone Foundation it is free to download.

The app provides information about different types of violence and empowers women to learn more awareness of how to manage their own situation. At the same time, it provides a mapping of support services dealing with ill-treatment, both locally and nationally.

Also available is the speed dial 112which can be activated with a single tap on any page of the App.

The Lines packs on which the QR code for downloading Vodafone’s Bright Sky appears are those of the pack in stock format. They are already being distributed and can already be found in supermarkets and hypermarkets throughout Italy.

Economic violence is also a form of abuse

Since March 2023, within the Bright Sky app, there has been a new section dedicated to the topic of financial independence, in collaboration with Rame. With concrete suggestions and advice on how to recognize, defend yourself and free yourself from economic violence, one of the even lesser known forms of abuse.

To promote the new Bright Sky section on economic violence, the Vodafone Italia Foundation has created the social media campaign “La mimosa advises” in which information and suggestions are shared to make women aware of theimportance of having to be economically independentlearning, for example, how to properly manage and monitor your current account.

«The agreement with an important brand like Lines allows us to directly reach those women in need of a support tool», explains Adriana Versino, President of the Vodafone Italia Foundation.

To promote the diffusion and use of the Bright Sky app, several campaigns on the theme of gender equality have already been launched. Countryside “Eight out of Ten”, launched exclusively on TikTokeight told in short videos unreported incidents of violence, written and interpreted by four young influencers. The title of the campaign takes up the official data of the Ministry of the Interior which underline how eight out of ten women who have suffered violence have never reported their abuser.

With the project #I ask for a friend we wanted to trace one of the expressions most used ironically on social media to ask awkward questions. However, reversing its common sense, so as to create a more confidential bond and raise public awareness on the issue of gender-based violence. The #ScrivoPerUnAmica initiative has led to the publication of a collection of stories, told by a collective of writers, dedicated to the various forms of gender-based violence.

Then there is the Mobile Angel projectdeveloped together withWeapon of the Carabinieri and to the Soroptimist association, it is an initiative that aims to put available to women who suffer or have suffered abuse or stalking an effective technological tool (a smartwatch), to allow the police to be able to intervene promptly in case of need. At the same time, it makes it possible to increase the perception of safety on the part of women, in the awareness of being able to count on timely interventions in the event of any emergencies. The project, launched on 25 November 2022 in the cities of Milan, Naples and Turin, involves 45 women appropriately chosen by the Judicial Authority.
