The quintet last came together with its original line-up in 2013. There will probably be new music soon.
*NSYNC probably pulled off the biggest surprise at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards on Tuesday night (September 12). On an evening full of highlights and winners, Justin Timberlake, Joey Fatone, Lance Bass, JC Chasez and Chris Kirkpatrick did the honors and left their fans amazed. It was the first time since 2013 that the quintet was on stage together again.
*NSYNC reunion: Will there be new music soon?
The last time the five boy band pioneers performed together was ten years ago. Back then, solo-turned Justin Timberlake performed a medley of his greatest hits at the MTV VMAs as he accepted his Video Vanguard Award. Of course, his ex-colleagues from *NSYNC couldn’t be missing.
At this year’s VMAs, the five men presented the award for “Best Pop”, which went to Taylor Swift – the big winner in 2023. Swift seemed just as surprised as the rest of the audience and even became a fangirl when her role models presented the award: “I had your dolls! What’s happening now? They’re up to something and I need to know what. You are pop personified!” Swift shouted excitedly into the microphone as she accepted her award.
Shortly before the MTV VMAs, fans speculated whether there could be a *NSYNC reunion. Several days earlier, Timberlake, Fatone and Bass had been spotted together in New York City, which is only a few minutes’ drive from the VMA location in Newark. Movie posters for “Trolls Band Together,” in which Timberlake lends his voice to an animated character, also gave rise to speculation. The “N” of the iconic band logo can be seen on it, as well as a QR code that leads to a previously unknown song.
Is this new material from *NSYNC? Nothing has been confirmed yet, but fans are hoping that one of the most successful boy bands of all time will soon celebrate their comeback.
