VMAs: Doja Cat shocks live with blood-smeared dancers

Her live show was something special – more and more blood-smeared dancers imitating her were added.

Doja Cat shocked with a bloody live performance at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards. Amid the anticipation for her new studio album SCARLET (release date: September 22nd), the rapper performed live at the awards ceremony on Tuesday evening (September 12th) with “Attention,” “Paint The Town Red” and “Demons” and delivered a Choreography with bloody SCARLET alter egos.

For “Attention,” Doja Cat moved through the audience in a buttoned-up blazer look. Always right behind her: four blood-stained dancers who imitated the singer. Over time, more and more dancers joined in in the same scary style.

During the transition to “Paint The Town Red,” the blazer was removed as Doja Cat took her place on the main stage with a skyline visible behind her. The choreo became more and more sophisticated, the number of dancers continued to grow and the shock effect remained.

And when “Demons” was performed live, the artist opened her hair, unbuttoned her white blouse and leaves flew over the stage like a tornado. Their performance: a visually unique experience that really shook you up.
