Red
The early opening goal caused a lot of frustration at WVV, which lost to leader Hoogezand last Thursday (which VKW also lost last week). Kevin Wiegman crossed the line in that frustration. After a duel in his own half, he flashed Ynse Oosterhof after. Referee Boekholt from Assen had no choice but to immediately draw red.
But against ten men it didn’t get any easier for VKW. The Börkers hardly knew how to handle the situation and the field also did not help to put a nice positional game on the mat to play WVV piece. The guests from Winschoten got the fight they wanted, although the formation of trainer Jan Kloetstra was hardly dangerous.
Match not in the slot
Despite the mediocre game, VKW had plenty of opportunities before and after the break to close the game, but the peace in the completion and the purity of the last pass left a lot to be desired. Jeroen Welles, Anjo Willems, Jonas Nijland and Leon Santema had excellent opportunities, but did not score. And if you don’t score yourself, the opponent often does. And the chance for WVV came just before time. Thom van der Veen suddenly appeared for VKW goalkeeper Martijn Mulder. The goalie saved and thus prevented expensive and unnecessary loss of points.
Shortly after that great chance of the equalizer, WVV defender Rick Heijenga received his second yellow and therefore red card (for the offending of one of the assistant referees).
position
Thanks to the victory, VKW is two points closer to leader Hoogezand, which drew against low flyer FVC in Friesland. Incidentally, Assenaar Harold Wekema’s team led 4-0 against the leader, but say the team of another Assenaar (Germain Beck) will come alongside in the last half hour. Hoogezand now has 23 points from 11 matches. VKW follows with 22 out of 11 and WVV is in 3rd place with 19 out of 11.
