VKW after deserved victory over SVBO leader in 1F

Anjo Willems

VKW deservedly won on its own artificial grass, which was hardly playable after the break due to the heavy rainfall. Halfway through, it was 1-0 by a goal by who else than Anjo Willems. The striker of the home club was sent into the depths by Jonas Nijland after just over half an hour and made no mistake. VKW could certainly have doubled that score before half-time, but SVBO was also close to scoring a few times. Dylan Wessels and Ronalds Gerdes saw their bets turned with pain and effort.

Red card

A foul by René Wolbers on Jeroen Welles, halfway through the second half, heralded the decision. SVBO goalkeeper Jeroen Walda initially foiled (by coming far out of his goal) another chance for Jonas Nijland, but then Wolbers prevented Welles from passing through. At least that was the judgment of referee Arends, who immediately drew a red card for Wolbers. “But I didn’t hit him at all,” Wolbers said afterwards. Welles also seemed to play the ball a little too far in front of him, but got a free ball which he shot hard and low behind Walda: 2-0.

Red card (2)

The game was over after that goal. SVBO, which played its third game in seven days, was unable to turn the tide. Certainly not with one less man, although that numerical minority disappeared twenty minutes before time. Welles made a slightly too fierce sliding and then pushed his opponent away. Arends drew yellow for both actions and Welles was able to take a shower.

Willems again and beautiful goal of honor Wessels

Also with ten against ten, the biggest chances remained for VKW, which also made it 3-0 ten minutes before the end via Willems. It was number 6 of the season for the number 10 of the home club. In the absolute final phase, substitute Niels Wessels saved the honor for SVBO by hitting the ball nicely: 3-1.
