In Iltalehti’s Viisupodi, this week’s episode discusses Yle’s snarky attitude towards Viusu fans, the position of the pre-favorite and the importance of children in Eurovision.
There is a reporter in the studio Mari Putaan in addition, a producer Riikka Nyman and journalist, Eurovision fan Mari Julku.
According to the international Wiwiblogs fan site, the new music competition is the best national qualifying competition, even better than Sweden’s Melodifestivalen, which is often used as a benchmark.
Julku remembers what the beginning of UMK was like, and how ugly it was in Yle’s head, UMK producer Anssi Autio in the front nose, there was talk of wise men.
– “Eurovision is a sticky music competition with a bad reputation, which has been hijacked by a strange camp sect”, Julku quotes Autio’s words from 2012.
– Many Visufans got goosebumps at this, Julku recalls.
– But then nothing happened, Julku sighs and refers to Finland’s miserable rankings.
A lot happened in later years, but not everything. Pudas tells what happened when he and Autio met in Logomo last February.
