Naomi Visser finished sixth on Thursday in the all-around at the European Gymnastics Championships in Munich. The twenty-year-old Dutchman was still in the lead after three of the four subdivisions, but lost a lot of ground during the last session.
Visser came to a total score of 52.265 in the morning. She performed particularly well on floor (13.633) and bridge (14.266).
“Because we competed in the first subdivision, it is difficult to say where this score will take me,” Visser said after her performance. “There are still a lot of gymnasts in action. But I think I have a good starting position.”
Visser also led the dance after the second and third subdivisions, but saw her score surpassed by many gymnasts during the last session. Italy’s Asia D’Amato took gold with a score of 54,732. The British Alice Kinsella seized the silver with 54.132 and the 53,965 of the Italian Martina Maggio was good for bronze.
Vera van Pol finished sixteenth with a score of 51.499 and Tisha Volleman had to settle for eighteenth with a total of 50.333.
Netherlands sixth in country classification
In the country classification, the Netherlands finished sixth with a score of 155,464, securing a ticket for the team final. Italy finished at the top with 165.162, ahead of Great Britain (162.129) and France (159.131).
The European Gymnastics Championships are part of the combined championships that will take place in Munich from 11 to 21 August. The major event will feature nine Olympic sports.
