Virtual fitting with bods: Balmain relies on digitalization

Balmain is taking another step towards digitalization.

On Wednesday, the French fashion house introduced the virtual fitting of its collections through a partnership with the US technology group Bods.

Already in 2020, the brand offered a solution to the points of contact between consumers and the fashion world that were limited by Covid-19 using a ‘virtual showroom’ in which virtual models presented the ‘Cruise’ collection. In addition to excursions into the metaverse using NFT projects, she is now also further expanding the digital functions of her online shop.

With the help of the digital 3D styling and fitting options developed by Bods, garments can be tested individually. By creating a personalized avatar, it should be possible to try on and combine replicas of a total of seven ready-to-wear designs and five handbag models. Sizes, fabrics and cuts should be easier to understand in this way.

“We believe Bods will help our customers make confident decisions,” Balmain Chief Digital Officer Simon Cottigny said in a statement. “This added security will improve our conversion rates and ultimately reduce returns rates.”
