are fulfilled 30 years of the historic moment which took place in the stadium of the Chicago Bulls. On April 14, 1993, the members of the local team had been running a contest among the public present all night with a millionaire prize, but no one managed to put the ball in the basket. 19 people went through the challenge, two hit the backboard, another the edge of the ring, and the remaining 16 were balls into the air.
Mr Calhoun, a fan of nba and former player in the American NFL, was drawn and prepared to launch his triple. The odds of a hit had dropped to 1%, but Calhoun was convinced and calm settled over him. Before throwing the ball, the Bulls supporter remembered his brother Clarencewho had told him five years before that Michael Jordan he was going to be the greatest basketball player of all time.
As Calhoun recalled, he approached the 3-point line and when the fans in attendance chanted his name, he had a constant buzz of 18,600 people rising to cheer him. The shooting process was epic to say the least. After casting, the young man looked down at his feet and thought that the jerk had gone too strongbut when he looked up again he saw how the ball began to sink into the ring, through the net of the basket.
The celebration was exciting. Calhoun was congratulated by the members of the local team, including michael jordan and scottie pippen, two of the referential figures of the American basketball of the 90s. Currently, the millionaire launch has gone down in history of the contests.
thirty years later, Chris Hanman, son of the founder of SCA Promotions, has recalled the fact: “This type of contest grew a lot, and many NBA teams began to carry out similar tests.” As he reported years later, the contest organizers did not want to pay Calhoun, but it was Michael Jordan who was instrumental in changing his mind.
The mythical “23” He asked Calhoun if he had been paid and after the fan responded in the affirmative, the legendary basketball player acknowledged the following: “We made them give it to you. We were upset because they were trying not to pay you.”
