The Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) reported the abuses last week after animal welfare organization Eyes on Animals published images. According to the NVWA, this showed ‘a few pigs that showed symptoms of heat stress’: pigs that have a breathing rate higher than 50 breaths per minute at rest.
