A football player Violeta Mitul died in a tragic accident in Vopnafjörður municipality, Iceland.
According to media reports The 26-year-old Mitul, who also represented the national team of Moldova, was on Monday at camp with the players of his Icelandic club team Einherj, when he fell from a cliff into the water line. The accident happened in the early hours of the morning.
When the rescuers arrived at the accident site, nothing could be done to save Mituli’s life. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The sad news was a big shock for the club team represented by Mituli.
– Our entire community mourns the death of our beloved player. We would like to send our condolences to his loved ones. We know that no words can ease the pain they experience at the moment of grief, reads the press release published by Einherj’s team.
Mitul, who played as a winger, appeared in 41 matches for the Moldovan national team. The Moldovan men’s national team released a video on YouTube in which the team observes a moment of silence in Mituli’s memory.
In Einherji, Mitul played in 18 matches, where he scored four goals.
