In Brazil, a 58-year-old Tilburg citizen died from his injuries after being violently robbed earlier this month. That happened on the street in São Paulo, Brazilian media reported on Wednesday. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms the reports.
The robbery took place in broad daylight on Saturday, January 13. The victim was in Brazil for work. Together with a Dutch colleague, he was initially attacked from behind by two men. The pair was then surrounded by more men and kicked and punched, images show.
The Tilburg citizen was taken to a hospital with serious head injuries, where he remained for twelve days. He died last Friday.
The victim’s colleague has now returned to the Netherlands. It is not known whether he suffered any injuries during the robbery. According to Brazilian media, the robbery is yet another example of violence in the city.
