Violence in Emmen home, man with Belgian accent wanted

A resident of a house on the Hoofdstraat in Emmen knocked off two men in his own home last night. Two men intimidated and threatened him and then fled, police said.

It is still unclear to the police what exactly happened inside. A spokesperson says that an “extensive investigation” is being carried out.

What is clear is that around 10:30 p.m. a report came in of a suspicious situation. According to the police, the resident had arranged to meet a man at his home. An hour later, the visitor left the house to ‘get something out of his car’. Moments later, the visitor returned with a second man, after which the intimidation and threats began.

“The resident managed to fight them off,” says the spokesman. “The two men fled via the fire escape, the resident then called us in. The intentions of the men are still unclear.”

The police are still in the dark about the further escape route of the two, it is also not clear whether there was actually a car outside where the first visitor wanted to get something out of. Police have not yet released any information about the relationship between the resident and the couple. “That should be apparent from the conversations.”

In any case, the police are looking for a white man between 30 and 35 years old. “He has a Belgian accent. You don’t hear that very often, so people in the area may have heard that.”
