A strong wind is blowing through the TV world now that transgressive behavior of big TV stars is no longer tolerated. Catherine Keyl recently told the Party that she has sometimes been shot out of her shoes and, according to EenVandaag star Lammert de Bruin, she once screamed at him terribly.

No excuses

How does Viola Holt, who used to alternately present the program De 5 Hour Show with Catherine, view this? “Gosh, she has never apologized to me. That will not happen either,” she says in the weekly magazine Party.

It is no secret that a kind of cold war has been going on between the two ladies for decades and it is now flaring up again. Viola: “I was at a reunion of the 5 Hour Show, Catherine was there too, by the way, and then I heard from the entire editorial staff: you helped me so much, I only came when you were there, we worked so well with you .”

Burden of Catherine

Viola was very pleased to hear from her former colleagues that they had such good experiences with her. “You only hear that years later, just like that they had a lot of trouble from that other colleague.”

She continues: “I know all such things, all the history, but to bring it all up again… I also know about myself: I have never lashed out at anyone. Never. You can blame me for anything, but not that.”

Headline on television

Has Viola herself ever suffered from transgressive behavior on TV? Yes, she says. “I myself have not suffered any traumas from it, but I sometimes see a head on television at whom I still get angry on the spot about what he did to me.”

She concludes: “I don’t want to think about it anymore, but when I see that headline on television, it happens again. I have the support of a number of women who have worked in broadcasting. We know that about each other, but let Gerard Timmer (director of the NOS, ed.) figure it out.”
