Vinted and Shein among the most visited fashion websites in the second quarter

In the second quarter of 2022, the French analysis company Mediametrie//NetRatings and the trade association Fevad report that the number of online buyers is increasing. It is now 42.1 million, which is almost 100,000 more than last year. On average, 47.5 million internet users (75 percent of French people) visit at least one of the most visited websites and/or apps in France every month.

As every quarter, Mediametrie//NetRatings and Fevad publish the ranking of the traffic of the twenty leading e-commerce websites in all sectors on computers, mobile phones and tablets. There are only slight changes for the second quarter.

The top quartet in France remains unchanged with Amazon, followed by Leboncoin, Cdiscount and Vinted. Booking returns to the top 5 this month, confirming the strong recovery of the online tourism industry according to the latest figures published by Fevad. The two biggest climbers in the top 20 are Shein and Decathlon, which move up five places to 12th and 16th in the rankings, respectively.

In fashion, Vinted leads the ranking, followed by Shein, Veepee, Decathlon and Zalando. While more than 80 percent of Internet shoppers have bought or sold second-hand products online at some point, the second quarter results confirm the growing interest in second-hand fashion: Vinted, the marketplace for used fashion, is currently the leading fashion website in the Ranking. While sustainability is a concern for Millennials and Gen Z, fast fashion remains popular. Shein is the second most popular fashion brand in this ranking. Declining purchasing power, the risk of inflation and rising prices mean that people prefer more affordable brands.

This quarterly ranking, published by the analysis company Mediametrie//NetRatings and the trade association Fevad (Fédération du e-commerce et de la vente à distance), makes it possible to track the evolution of the audience of the main French commercial websites in terms of number of visitors to track users and the percentage of internet users over the period in question. The project was initiated by the Fevad. The Fevad is a representative organization for the online and distance selling industry and today brings together almost 800 companies. In particular, its task is to collect and disseminate information in order to improve knowledge of the sector and promote the sustainable and ethical development of mail order and online sales in France.
