Vincent van der Voort skips the first round of the World Cup darts, Niels Zonneveld against Williams

Vincent van der Voort and Niels Zonneveld know their opponent at the World Darts Championship. The two are the only people from North Holland who will play at the World Cup darts that starts in London on December 15.

Vincent van der Voort only enters the second round of the World Cup. The Dutch Destroyer is the number 28 in the world rankings, so he skips the first round. On Thursday December 22, Van der Voort will play against the winner of the match between Cameron Menzies and Diogo Portela.

For Van der Voort it will be his sixteenth World Cup participation in his career. Last year the adventure ended with the last 32. Then the 46-year-old Noord-Hollander lost according to regulations because he tested positive for the corona virus. In 2011 and 2015 Van der Voort reached the quarter finals at the world championship.

Zonneveld

Niels Zonneveld will face Lewy Williams in the first round on Monday 19 December. The 24-year-old Uitgeester also knows right away that if he wins in the second round he will meet Michael van Gerwen. For the number 76 in the world, it is his second World Cup in his career. Two years ago, his adventure ended in the first round against William O’Connor.

The World Darts Championship kicks off at Alexandra Palace on December 15. The final will be played on Sunday 3 January.
