Vincent van der Voort will not participate in the Darts World Cup in London later this year. The number 42 in the world rankings was eliminated in the qualifying tournament in Barnsley.
The darts player from Purmerend had to acknowledge his superiority in fellow countryman Jeffrey Sparidaans, the number 111 in the world. Van der Voort lost 6-2.
Van der Voort has been active at the Darts World Cup every year since 2002, but that unprecedented series comes to an end this year. Van der Voort achieved his best performance at the World Cup in 2011 and 2015. In these two editions, the quarter-final was his final destination. Last year he reached the last 32.
The main tournament starts on December 15 and takes place in the English capital London.
