  • HIFK won TPS in Helsinki 3–2 and tied the semi-finals for 3–3.
  • The semi-finals will be decided on Wednesday in Turku.

When the emergency is greatest, there is help too close, says an old Finnish proverb.

HIFK may not have been in real trouble yet, but it was in the worst place of the season.

The scoreboard is now 2-2.

It was a place of forced victory, and it’s not the funniest thing in the world to go to overtime.

To start the attacking head, the young star of TPS Juuso from Persia against the Deputy Captain of HIFK crouched Otto Paajanen: 100-0 starting win, defender Yohann Auvitun shot and bounce TPS kit Ville Lajusen feet: 3–2 for HIFK.

– Great feeling when he saw that the puck went to the wigs of the net. A great shot from Auvitu, Paajanen praised – although in the end there was luck in the French finish.

HIFK deserved a fortune kick, as it was on the game for the most part, so to speak. This was stated, for example, by the goalkeepers’ defenses: HIFK Niilo Halonen 15, TPS: n Andrei Karejev 30.

Paajanen did not admit that he felt greater pressure at the time of the decision.

– The start of the attacking head, from which an attempt is made to make the goal just like any other way. Great moments and great situations to get to the point of playing at that point.

– Of course there is always pressure, it can’t be denied, but you just have to go do what has been agreed.

The voice was an experience, as Paajanen, 29, has been in hard places before. Three years ago, as the captain of the HPK, he won the Jari Kurri award for the best player in the championship and playoffs.

In the first installment, Paajanen hit the opening goal of the evening at the end of the force attack Roni Hirvosen from the feed.

– I knew when “Rondo” gets the puck that he’s sure to see and feed. Nothing but ready to shoot when the disc enters the shoulder. All it took was to hit the target, so it was there, Paajanen described.

Eetu Koivistoinen took the hosts soon to lead the two goals, but TPS didn’t give up but came in second Mikael Pyyhtiän and Topias Haapasen hits levels.

After that, HIFK’s game was like a tightrope dance until the winning goal in 58.56 – and even after that, as TPS developed a tough Kir and more goals in the last minute.

– A big and naturally important victory for us, Paajanen sighed.

Character

The solution of the hot match series was transferred to the game in Turku on Wednesday game seveniin. With that in mind, Paajanen saw a lot of good in HIFK’s performance.

– We were able to play a good game when it was most needed. Yes, of course it shows that character.

– It has been so smooth that the stand-up game is definitely justified and the series gets a worthy decision, Paajanen summed up.

However, there was still room for improvement.

– Couldn’t play intact for 60 minutes. That lot was bad for us. You have to be able to grind and play that famous game all the time.

– It must also be remembered that the opponent is also good, Paajanen gave TPS appropriate recognition.

“Not the last”

HIFK head coach Ville Peltonen returned to HIFK’s exchange fence after his corona isolation.

– Tough to do and a great fight from the kundas, he praised.

C In a TV interview Antero Mertaranta mentioned to Peltonen about Wednesday’s last game. Peltonen immediately corrected that this was not the last but the seventh match.

– Yes, it bumped into my own ear, Peltonen said.

– But it’s great to be back. I have been away and away for a long time. The playoffs are hockey at its best, and this was just fantastic on the puck.
