The commissioner José Manuel Villarejo hatched in 2017 together with his partner Adrián de la Joya and the businessman Alberto Pedraza a plan for the Spanish Police and Justice to initiate an investigation against members of the Government of Andorrawhich two years earlier had ordered the intervention of the Banca Privada d’Andorra (BPA), owned by the brothers Higini and Ramón Cierco, according to a recording included in the summary of the Tándem case, to which El Periódico de Spain, newspaper of the same group, Prensa Ibérica, as this newspaper.
In the audio you can hear how the businessman Alberto Pedraza says that he is going to resort to the Police -the former head of the UDEF José Luis Olivera-; the then head of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, Manuel Moix; and to Villarejo himself with the purpose of intimidate the Andorran Executive to help the owners of BPA: “They have to threaten them with sinking their banks”. In this sense, Villarejo’s partner relates that his objective is to attack the main competitor of the Cierco bank: Andbank, to whom he intended to give “an ax blow of 50 million euros”, says De la Joya.
“If this continues like this, neither the Largo [el abogado Javier Iglesias]neither [Mariano] Rajoy, nor [Cristóbal] Montoro, nor the Minister of the Interior are going to do anything.
