Viktoria Berlin won without a muzzicato

Third division team Viktoria Berlin failed to reverse the trend in the first game after parting ways with head coach Benedetto Muzzicato. In the promoted duel with SC Freiburg II, the Berliners lost 0:2 (0:1) on Sunday.

Although the hosts in the Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Sportpark were initially more active in a tough encounter, Freiburg striker Vincent Vermeij scored the goals from a penalty in the 33rd minute and from a corner in the 56th minute.

After the 13th defeat in the 26th league game, Viktoria is still one point ahead of the first relegation zone.

Caretaker coach David Pietrzyk, who trained more during the week than his predecessor, made five changes from the 2-0 defeat at Wehen-Wiesbaden, calling on Lucas Pinkert, Martin Gambos, Shalva Ogbaidze, Enes Küc and Lucas Falcao starting eleven Despite the changes, the game was difficult for the Berliners to flow. Only after 24 minutes did a Küc shot pose a threat. Six minutes later, Brooklyn Ezeh hit his own ankle free in front of Freiburg goalkeeper Noah Atubolu.

On the other side, Viktoria defender Jakob Lehwald caught Freiburg midfielder Robert Wagner in the penalty area, Vermeij didn’t miss the chance to take a penalty. In return, Lehwald had the chance to equalize after a corner, but his header went clearly over the goal.

After the change of sides, the game flattened out further, so that Vermeij forced an early preliminary decision with his seventh goal of the season with a header.

Viktoria only reared up briefly and has now been waiting for her own goal for 323 minutes.
