The sixth competition day of the World Athletics Championships starts immediately in Finnish colours, when Sanne Erkkola competes in women’s javelin qualifying. Erkkola throws in qualifying group A.

Camilla Richardson on the other hand, competes in the preliminaries of his new main event, the 5,000 meters. Richardsson was previously known as a 3,000 meter hurdler. He gets up to speed right away in the first round at 2:25.

The fiercest Finnish expectations are aimed at the semifinals of the women’s 400-meter hurdles, where Viivi Lehikoinen aims for a place in the finals and a Finnish record. Lehikoinen ran a time of 54.95 in the heats and was the eleventh fastest on the entire results list.

Iltalehti’s expert Arto Bryggare estimates that Lehikoinen will run the Finnish record and seriously fight even for a place in the World Cup final.

Tuija Helander-Kuusisto clocked the valid SE result of 54.62 in August 1987. With his best time of 54.80 during the fenced track lap, Lehikoinen has the opportunity to put the almost 35-year-old record into history.

The world championships in the women’s discus throw and the 3,000-meter hurdles will also be awarded at night.
