Viewing days of Maya Wildevuur’s auction of works of art this weekend in Midwolda

The works of artist Maya Wildevuur will be auctioned until November 7. Anyone interested in a work of art can come and take a look at the Ennemaborg, Hoofdweg 100 in Midwolda this weekend from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A maximum number of visitors per hour applies to these viewing days. Registration is required and can be done via this link link.

The colorful artist started a gallery in Hooghalen in Huize Dennenrode on the Hiemstrastate estate in 1984. In the early 1990s, Wildevuur moved to Ennemaborg in Midwolda, where she started Galerie Maya Wildevuur.

Wildevuur died earlier this year at the age of 78. In the 1980s she became known for her ‘silk collages’ inspired by English landscapes.

However, it did not stop at ‘silk collages’. Wildevuur was also known for her paintings and collages, which are characterized by the use of strongly contrasting color accents and sleek but sometimes whimsical shapes. Flowers, landscapes and sometimes animals were popular subjects of her artwork.

She has also made paintings of King Willem-Alexander and Princess Maxima, among others.

“A total of 456 works by Maya Wildevuur will be auctioned, of which 219 are her own works,” explains Astrid van der Boogh of Trip Advocaten en Notarissen. “The works of art are numbered and can be viewed on the ground floor and 1st floor.”

Artist Hans Zabel collaborated with her extensively in the 1980s. He thought she was a special personality, he said in an earlier interview with RTV Drenthe. “Maya was initially a very modest girl, but through her relationship with Jan de Gans she was able to grow in strength. She is from 1944 and that is the year of the monkey. That is a fire element. That fiery element was also in her colors “She had a charm and won many people over. She was a headstrong aunt. A flamboyant woman.”
