Viewers have to laugh at dick pics in ‘The smartest person’

The episode took a surprising turn when the topic of dick pics was broached. Much to the amusement of the viewer.

In the ‘Gallery’ game round, the candidates have to discover the theme of different photos. When Danielle is allowed to play, it appears that all of her photos are people named Dick. Dick Advocaat, Dick Bruna, Dick Cheney.

“These were eight dick pics”, Philip Freriks jokes. “It’s fashionable these days. Especially at Ajax”, laughs Thomas. Philip can’t resist continuing on this topic. He asks Danielle if she has ever received dick pics.

“Yes,” Danielle says. She herself uses a different name for the phenomenon, namely penis photos, which causes Philip’s discomfort. Danielle says that receiving the photos has become almost normal for her.

No power difference

Also dick videos. But not with a power difference in a working environment, such as with Overmars at Ajax. They were strangers, so that kind of shrugs off you. It would be much worse for me if someone I know or work with sent an unsolicited photo or video,” said Danielle.

Also Maarten van Rossem – how could it be otherwise? – has his opinion on dickpics ready. “I would say it indicates a pretty serious mental disorder. I think someone like that man from Ajax should be put under psychiatric treatment. I find it odd that it’s more or less normal. That has to do with the plague and mold in our culture: the social media, which in one way or another apparently invite this deviant behaviour”, explains Maarten in plain language.

On Twitter, the viewers of the program know that they have a lot of laughs at the gallery with the eight dick pics. Some viewers are critical and find the ‘supposedly fun subject’ not to be laughable at all.
