Last year candidates had to bring a ski pass, snow boots and thermal underwear as it was freezing cold in Croatia, this season a rain suit is indispensable. For months, the makers have been able to search for an island to Expedition Robinson to include. Then why on earth a location where it only rains? “I have a completely different definition of a wet dream,” Niels Oosthoek put into perspective when they woke up. No, of course Ilias Ojja is not a hero, but his fumbling on that ladder resulted in funny images and comments: ,,I’m doing a kind of bomb and I look just like Pipo the Clown from Robinson.” It was an episode without heroes or hoopla. Monkeys pooped on Mike Weerts (but images were missing) and you saw teeth brushed with charcoal. The most startling was the comeback of Team Purple. How could the Orange give away that generous lead? Harry Piekema and Vincent Vianen dawdling too long. Plus: ,,We didn’t look around and watch the time,” said Liza Sips. Well, then you deserve the Island Council.

What a sofa. Is this making television? The makers of Robinson maneuvered us towards a battle on the Island Council. Finally a tie. All conversations went there beforehand. Chatilla van Grinsven who supposedly wanted to keep Liza in it. Dennis Wilt who ‘went’ with Liza. Not so. In the end Dennis did not vote for Harry but for Liza and it was not 3-3 but 6-2. Exit Liza. As a viewer, I felt a bit taken aback. “I feel like a traitor,” Dennis lisped. Duh! Isn’t that what he is? It would have been nice if Dennis had really voted for Harry. That it had become 3-3 and the old team was green versus old-Orange. And even better: if Harry had had to pack his suitcase and it had suddenly been Vincent and Chatilla opposite Liza and Dennis. Now Dennis said to the departing Liza: ,,I will continue to fight for the Orange squad.” In vain! The weatherman stands (against the green bond of three) with one leg in the proverbial grave and pulling the other leg is only a matter of time.
