Yesterday, Yves Lampaert (Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl) from Ingelmunster was still disappointed, but today he is mostly relieved. “I fell double flat just before the Bourliquet, just before the Saint-Sauveur. So that was quite a remonte to get back to the front. On the Trieu I buy that a bit. But luckily we were able to rectify that in the final. I didn’t think we’d get them back. Fabio still takes the victory here in a masterly way.”
Livyns: “Already planning to try something yesterday”
Arjen Livyns (Bingoal-Wallonie Bruxelles) from Waarmaarde took his chance with an early break that eventually lasted well into the final. “I had it on my mind from last night to try something. I bet a bit that there would be racing in the mountain zones in the peloton and that a group would come back to the leading group and that happened. But it was still a bit too far in the local round to stay ahead of the escapees.”
