Former world and European champion Patrick Vieira is the new coach of the French first division soccer team Racing Strasbourg.
The club announced this on Sunday. France’s former national team captain signed at table-15. signed a three-year contract for the past Ligue 1 season.
Vieira had last worked in the Premier League as Crystal Palace team manager but was sacked after around a year and a half last March. The 47-year-old was previously the head coach of Strasbourg’s league rivals OGC Nice and New York City FC.
Strasbourg was taken over by US owners of English Premier League giants Chelsea last month. After Olympique Marseille, Olympique Lyon, FC Toulouse and promoted AC Le Havre, Strasbourg is the fifth French first division club with American majority owners.
