After contact with George Russell, the Alfa Romeo Chinese crashed over the tire stack with his car. It took a long time before it became known how he was doing, but the relief was enormous when it turned out that he was ‘okay’. He was freed from his car by a special team and taken away with a stretcher. His team has since announced that he did not sustain any significant injuries from the crash. The 23-year-old driver has since left the circuit’s medical post at Silverstone ‘fit’.
“It was a bad crash and I’m very happy that I’m okay,” Zhou said happily afterwards. “The marshals and medical team on track were fantastic, but the halo saved me today. It proves that it makes sense to keep improving the safety of our cars. I’m fit and looking forward to racing in Austria next week.”
Russell stopped by the tarmac after the incident and ran over to his colleague to check on him. He is not the only driver involved in an incident. Alexander Albon got Sebastian Vettel in the back of his car and then crashed hard too. He came into close contact with Esteban Ocon and Yuki Tsunoda. Albon has now also arrived at the medical center and luckily he is also doing well.
