Video: You can take a wine bath in Valkenburg | 1Limburg

Cleopatra put donkey milk in her bath. And nowadays you can also bathe in chocolate or in beer, as in Germany. At Thermae 2000 in Valkenburg they have now filled the bathtub with yet another drink, where you can now take a bath in wine.

“The idea arose how appropriate when enjoying a glass of wine,” says director Bastiaan Klomp. “We came up with this idea together with Stan Beurskens of Wijngoed Sint Martinus in Vijlen”.

wine pulp
The bath is not actually filled with wine, but with wine pulp left over after pressing the wine. “The skin of those grapes is full of antioxidants, and they are very good for your skin,” says Klomp. “Those antioxidants will pamper the top layer of your skin.”

Skin
According to dermatologists, wine pulp is good for the skin, but the effect is short-lived. The antioxidants remain behind on the epidermis and therefore disappear quickly.

white swimsuit
Despite bathing in the red wine pulp, as a bather you don’t have to worry about your swimsuits changing color. “You can just go in here with your white swimming trunks,” says Klomp. “We tested that to ensure that everyone can leave our company in the right way.”
